4moms, a Pittsburgh company that creates products for children using innovative applications of electronics, has launched the Origami, the first automatic power folding stroller. The Origami is one of three new products that will be available to consumers in 2009.
The Origami power folding stroller is designed to give parents all of the features of a full-size stroller, along with the portability of a compact. CEO Rob Daley says it's the world's first power folding stroller, which relies on motors to do the work and folds with the simple push of a button. Lightweight, easy to use and eco-friendly, it has a built-in generator that recharges itself with every 300 feet of use.
Company co-founder Henry Thorne notes that 4moms received $300,000 from Ben Franklin Technology Partners (BFTP) in 2005—critical jumpstart for the business. "BFTP provided half of our early-stage funding. That capitalized us enough that first year so we could develop our products."
In addition to the launch of the Origami, 4moms will release the Mamaroo, a new product that improves on the bouncy seat and baby swing to provide the latest innovation in soothing motion for babies.
The third product that 4moms will introduce is the Goodnight Sleep Trainer, which was created to help parents teach their child how to sleep through the night.
4moms' award-winning infant tub can be found at numerous retailers including Babies "R" Us, Amazon.com, BuyBuy Baby, USA Baby, Target.com and specialty stores and boutiques nationwide. |
