R. Chadwick Paul, Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP), won an Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal 2008 Executive Spotlight Award in October 2008. This award honors "professionals who have made excellence and commitment a way of life and, in so doing, have made our region a better place in which to do business and to live."
"I'm pleased to accept this award on behalf of the entire Ben Franklin team," Paul said in his acceptance remarks. "Over our 25-year history, the Ben Franklin program has been recognized nationally and internationally as the gold standard for technology-based economic development. But the most important measure of our success is in the companies, products and people that have blossomed with our help."
Paul led the development of Ben Franklin TechVentures, a business incubator/post-incubator facility that opened in fall 2007. With 35,000 square feet of rentable space, this newly renovated building addresses the region's pressing need for wet lab space and incubator space, crucial to early-stage technology firms.
Paul founded Chadwick Telephone in 1976 while still earning his MBA from Lehigh University. He serves as a director of National Penn Bank Corporation and has served as a director of Lehigh Valley Industrial Park, Inc., the Bethlehem Area Chamber of Commerce, Musikfest, Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, Touchstone Theater and the Minsi Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem for 28 years and served as its president from 2000-2001. In addition, he has been a staunch supporter of Junior Achievement throughout his career and currently serves as chairman of the Achievement Foundation. He also founded and built Business Digest of the Lehigh Valley.
